Make the call: Keep the Coronels in their home

Please call Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Mel Watt at 202-649-3001 OR 3006 (this the Office of the Executive Director)

Sample script:
My name is ______________ and I’m calling from CITY/STATE. I'm calling to tell Director Watt to stop Fannie Mae’s eviction of the Coronel family in Los Angeles and to direct Fannie Mae to end the Bush-era policy of preventing principal reduction and owner buybacks. Jaime Coronel recently suffered a stroke and the family is able to buy the house back at the same price Fannie Mae is offering it to investors. Keep this family in their home of 25 years and make the changes necessary to keep other families like them in their homes. Thank you.

YOU WILL LIKELY BE INTERRUPTED and told you are getting transferred to Consumer Affairs. This is okay. The Office will know we called and the Consumer Affairs people will take our message. Just repeat your name and city and tell them the message.

Please report the results of your call using the "Submit your call report" section.

Thank you very much!

I Called both numbers and left a voice mail both times.

Was directed to an answering machine and recorded the suggested message specifically wondering why it was a better option for Fannie Mae to sell the Coronel home out from underneath them when the same family could afford the home at the price available to investors. Left my home number for a call-back, if the office chooses to contact me.

An answering machine picked up. Recorded the message, however, I went so far as to say, the abuse of power must stop.

Left message on general voice mail, as it was after office hours

It was after hours, so I left a message. Fannie Mae should work to keep people in their homes, not create “investment opportunities” for speculators.

The computer voice said no one was available at the office even though it was still business hours. I left a voice message.

I called the Director’s Office and could only leave a message: My husband is a Fannie Mae shareholder who hopes Congress / the courts don’t kill Fannie Mae. I expect Fannie Mae to end the Bush-era policy of preventing principal reduction and owner buybacks.
