Mel Watt Confirmation Calls

wattvote2.jpgThe vote to confirm Mel Watt as head of the FHFA could come at any time. Please call your Senator and urge him or her to confirm Rep. Watt.

Together Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac control more than half the mortgages in the US and have the power to help keep millions of homeowners out of foreclosure. The vote might happen at any moment, so we need to prevent a potential filibuster and make sure that our Senators vote to confirm Rep. Watt.

Please call 866-200-6444

Talking point: “Please vote to confirm Representative Mel Watt as Director of the Federal Housing Finance Authority (FHFA). No filibusters, no delays.

Feinstein and Boxer were stymied by the failure of cloture to stop the Republican obstructive Filibuster. Both will vote for Watt when the Senate gets rid of the Grand Obstructionist Party’s inane manipulating of the Vote

Got through to Sen. Feinstein’s office; delivered message. Staff indicated she yet hasn’t taken a position. Called Sen. Boxer’s office and left message on her voice mail. Please remind callers to leave their name, address and ZIP code with any voice messages.

I phoned both Senator Mark Warner and Senator Tim Kaine on October 30. I talked with a staffer at Senator Warner’s office and she said a vote would not be held that day but might be before the end of the week. I pointed out that there were only 2 days left to do so. There was no one in Senator Kaine’s office to answer the phone, so I left a detailed message plus a complaint about his failure to respond to petition-based messages. Senator Warner always responds.

I called both Feinstein and Boxer to urge them to vote for confirmation of Mel Watt. I got through on Feinstein’s line and spoke to a live person.

Left a message for Barbara Boxer.

Got a busy signal (as usual) on Senator Feinstein’s line.
